Creative Footsteps
Guided walks across East Hampshire, 2 to 10 October
Follow in the footsteps of local literary greats this autumn by taking part in guided walks in the East Hampshire countryside.
To celebrate the writing heritage of the local area, and the beautiful scenery that inspired it, visitor attractions in East Hampshire have formed a literary festival, Creative Footsteps, aimed at introducing these literary greats to a new audience.
The diverse programme of events includes a family walking trail in Chawton House Gardens, a mindful autumn nature walk and poetry-writing workshop at Jane Austen’s House in Chawton and a walk and discussion starting at Gilbert White’s House in Selborne with nature writer, conservationist and composer Laurence Rose.
The week also coincides with events taking place as part of the Edward Thomas Literary Festival, celebrating the life, works and inspiration of the First World War-time poet, who lived locally.
